Face Book Check In

facebook check inHow to add the “Check-In” Feature to your Facebook Business Page

Do you have a ‘standard’ Facebook business page and want to be able to offer “Check-In” on your customers smart phones.

In Australia, today, this is the process:

Number ONE

You need to have a Facebook page with your own URL.   This is our Facebook Page, note the words TwineMarketing at the end. https://www.facebook.com/TwineMarketing

Number TWO

Next time you are in your business, use your Smart phone to “Check-In”.

(a) If no-one has checked in before you will need to “Add a Place”.  Follow the prompts and make sure the place you add is spelt exactly the same as the words at the end of your Facebook URL, ie Twine Marketing.

(b) If someone has checked in before, they will have already created a place, simply select the place (with the exact same name ) and Check In.

Number THREE

Log into your personal Facebook account.

Look on your Timeline and click on where it says you have checked into your business.

Number Four

This brings up the “Check-In” page, also know as the Places Page.

Look down the bottom left and click on the words “Is this your business”

Follow the prompts to claim it as yours.

Number Five

Switch from your personal facebook page to your main business page.

Select “Edit Page” in the top right.

Next select “Resources” on the left.

Look for a green icon with two arrow at the bottom merging into one at the top.  Next to this icon click on the words “Merge Duplicate Pages”

Go through the prompts and voila you can now check-in from your main business page.

Trouble-shooting

If the Merge Duplicate pages link didnt appear, then you’ve messed up in Steps 2 – 4 OR the address is different on the two pages and you need to change it to be identical.
